ISLAMABAD, Jan 04(APP):  In year 2020, despite covid 19 Prime Minster Imran Khan did not let Pakistan’s fight against climate change slow down. As one of the five most affected countries, Pakistan significantly ramped up efforts to combat climate change in 2020.

Following main initiative was taken in this regard;

  1. Largest forest of Pakistan in Kundian, Mianwali launched with 250 million trees target
  2. Green Stimulus Package to provide employment and combat climate change as well
  3. Monsoon Tree Plantation campaign
  4. Largest tree plantation drive in Pakistan’s history – 3.5 million trees planted on August 9th
  5. Billion Tree Honey Initiative
  6. Protected Areas Initiative
  7. Clean Green Index awards
  8. Travel Responsibly for Eco-tourism in KP (TREK) Initiative launched
  9. Locust Crisis tackled successfully
  10. UN biodiversity Summit, Austrian World Summit & Climate Ambition Summit addressed by PM Imran Khan
